As Easter approaches we decided to decorate our house with a little Easter décor. The first item was the Easter Egg. Follow the link to see the details of the Easter Egg Decoration. Our 2nd main Easter decoration was the garland. As you can see if you looked at the Easter Egg, we used some of the same paint for both decorations.
The paint used by Apple Barrel Brands. The yellow, blue, pink and purple was used for the painting of the bunny rabbits. The orange and green paint was used for the carrots. Casey was able to buy all of the paint at our local Wal-Mart.
After the paint to finish the project we needed the bunny rabbits, carrots, beads and twine. The bunny and carrots are simple ornaments and the beads and twine you should be able to find at any crafting store or any store with crafting items. This is all we used to make the entire garland.
The first thing Casey did was to paint both the bunny rabbit and carrots. The bunnies were easy to paint because all of them were painted using only one color. The carrots were just a hair harder because of the two colors. But a simple piece of tape along the edge gave us a nice barrier to paint the orange and green without risking or having the paint bleed over.
As you can see below, tape was put on the carrot leaf and the orange was painted. Then the tape was switched to the body of the carrot so the green could be painted. After both colors were applied, we were able to get a full color carrot. The last picture below is the bunny rabbits all laid out and painted.
Now the final part was putting everything together to make the garland. This meant to put everything onto the twine in an order to make the garland. All of the rabbits and carrots had to be super glued to the twine on the backside to have them lay flat. The beads were placed in a yellow, blue, pink pattern to give the entire garland a nice uniformity. The final touch was super gluing cotton balls onto each rabbit to act as white tails.
